Witold Pałka

Born 5th of November 1928 on Upper Silesia. In 1945 entered into Art Collage in Cracow, which fnished in 1947. In the same year he started studies at Fine Art Academy in Cracow on Painting Faculty. Studied in workshops of prof. Eugeniusz Eibisch, prof. Jerzy Fetkowicz and prof. Wacław Taranczewski. Significant exhibitions started after attend in Young Art Exhibition "Arsenał" in 1995 in Warsaw. From this time he organized more then ten indyvidual exhibitions. Attended in collective exhibitions in Poland and abroad. He is laureate of many awards and distinctions i.e.: 1965 - Voivodship Award for artistic activity, 1976 - Gold Cross of Merit for artistic activity, 1995 - XXIII Silesian Award of Juliusz Ligoń. In previous year he was awarded with first place for painting "Theater" in Country-wide Competition for Artwork under the auspices of ONZ. For many years he was chairman of artistic board of Union of Polish Artists in Katowice. Was a member of Arkat Group in year 1965-1967. His works are in Museums in Wrocław, Szczecin, Bytom, Gliwice, Silesian Museum in Katowice, Zachęta in Warszawa and private collections in Germany, England, Sweeden, Netherlands, Canada, USA, France and Australia. He was cooperating with Sacral Art and Architecture Committee of Katowice Diocese in 1966-1980. Is author of many artistic realizations in churches of Katowice Diocese. He also worked for another dioceses: in Bielsko-Biała, Częstochowa, Gliwice, Łomża, Opole and Szczecin. Summary of his 40 years art activity was retrospective exhibition in Artistic Exhibitions Office in Katowice in 1993. Member of Union of Polish Artists Gold Badge Chapter.
